Gurgaon: Think Culture Foundation, an organisation dedicated to empowering business, youth and women held the Annual Convention Think Culture Conclave 2019 at Management Development Institute, Gurgaon. Dedicated to the theme Culturally Conscious Leadership, the eminent dignitaries comprising CXOs, Entrepreneurs and Academicians deliberated on the immediate need of including cultural sensitivity in the business environment. The year 2020 is sighted to have a requirement of larger cooperation among diverse workforce and leadership in global and national corporations. With this conclave, MDI Gurgaon and TCF embark on a journey of an enriching partnership dedicated to imparting knowledge to students and industry patrons.

With the theme for this year “Culturally Conscious Leadership” TCF and MDI, Gurgaon have come together as key partners to embark upon the fact that cultural consciousness is imperative to global business efficiencies. The dignitaries who shared their focused insights were keynote speaker Mr SY Siddiqui, Chief Mentor, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd, Dr. Pawan Kumar Singh, Director MDI Gurgaon and Ms Yan Han, Founder, Think Culture Foundation. The eminent panelists comprised Priyanka Agrawal, Regional Talent Manager (Reckitt Benckiser), Divya Jain, Founder & CEO (Safeducate), Dr Tanuja Sharma, Professor and Area Chair, HRM, (MDI), Srabani Dubey, Vice President (Great Place to Work) and Prof. Wenjuan Zhang, Director - Center for India-China Studies (O.P. Jindal Global University).

The Think Culture Conclave 2019 explored the critical role that cultural diversity and inclusion play in leadership and relationship building in the workplace. Recent research from McKinsey found that the benefits of diversity and inclusion in the workplace has over 40% greater employee engagement to increased business performance.

The speakers shared their experiences and fundamentals on how to implement companywide tools and initiatives that can help to prevent biases in the workplace. Among the resolutions, a common thought was to craft truly effective inclusivity and diversity strategy led by strong and sustained and inclusive leadership.

As a step to empower culture and youth, Think Culture Foundation also collaborated with the College of Art, Delhi. Over 40 students came forward and contributed their creations to the Think Culture Conclave. The paintings were exhibited at the special corridor created at the MDI which added significance and upgraded the cultural value in the event.

Ms Yan Han, Founder, Think Culture Foundation emphasised on the importance of culture and described her vision of it, “For me, Culture is like the air. As time flows and the futures wrinkles into past, Culture persists. It reflects the sense of what it means to be a human being. It is an affection for the beautiful and the gracious around us.”

Mr Ranveer Brar, Indian Chef applauded the vision of TCF and said, “I would like to Congratulate the Think Culture Foundation and its founder Yan Han at the launch of TCF. I have always believed that Cultural identity is very important and as TCF has created a platform for an exchange of Culture between corporates and the society, I extend my heartiest appreciation.”

Dr Pawan Kumar Singh, Director, Management Development Institute encouragingly said, “At MDI, we are dedicated to nurturing the thought leaders of tomorrow by facilitating value-based, knowledge-centric, and action-oriented education to our students. Hence, we encourage our students to engage, interact, and learn from value-enhancing platforms such as Think Culture Conclave. Mr SY Siddiqui, Chief Mentor at Maruti Suzuki India Ltd expressed the importance of Culturally Conscious Leadership, “The theme for the conclave 'Culturally Conscious Leadership' is elementary to the times. The opportunity of global trade in the present and its potential makes culture a very critical element that can bring out the best in people. It is very important for the employees to feel that their diversities are a strength for the organization and therefore, all MNCs may like to explore strengthening Culturally Conscious Leadership for sustained success in future.”
