Jaipur to witness "Rajasthan Architecture Festival", a 3-days conclave on Architecture

Rajasthan Architecture Festival will highlight ‘Metamorphosis in Architecture: Heritage to Modern’

Indian Institute of Architects – Rajasthan Chapter is all set to host the largest 3-days conclave on architecture in the country. The Rajasthan Architecture Festival will be held from 20th-22nd May in Jaipur on the theme ‘Metamorphosis in Architecture: Heritage to Modern’ at Hotel Clarks Amer, Jaipur. The festival, one of the key events of Indian Institute of Architects – Rajasthan Chapter is set out to become a landmark event that integrates the architecture community.

With more than 1500 architects and designers from 26 plus nations from across the world, the festival will be inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Shri Ashok Gehlot and witness the presence of some national and international architects including Dato’ Dr. Ken Yeang, Malaysia; Marina Tabassum, Bangladesh; Hafeez Contractor, Sanjay Mohe, Shirish Beri, Gurjit Singh Matharoo, Habeeb Khan, Chitra Vishwanath, Abha Narain Lambah.

Speaking on the occasion, Ar. Tushar Sogani, Chairman, Indian Institute of Architects – Rajasthan Chapter said, "Rajasthan Architecture Festival will be a landmark event that integrates the architecture community by providing a platform to create a dialogue, strengthen engagement with stakeholders, and exhibit the latest products and innovations in the field of design. The event aims to become a medium to connect, communicate, and advance in the field of architecture. The festival will celebrate architecture & culture of Rajasthan through workshops, installations, heritage walks, exhibitions, cultural evenings & many more."

The platform will be instrumental in taking forward the ongoing discussions of architectural practice in Rajasthan & India acting as a catalyst to unify the discourse. The 3 days event will have various technical sessions and interesting discussions on topics like "Imagining A Re-Adaptive Future, The Architecture of Democracy, Coalescing Modern Materials in a Traditional Terrain, Architecture Transformation, Adding ‘Green’ to the Sand, etc. Along with this, 2 days heritage walks will take one through the lanes of the Jaipur walled city and Nahargarh Fort. An architectural exhibition ‘My Heritage, My Pride’ will display the culturally rich civilization and the architectural marvels of Rajasthan. The art installation is a student’s competition on the theme of the festival that will showcase innovation in design and creative thought through various installations judged by an eminent panel of jury members.

The event is aimed to become an annual celebration that travels to various other cities in Rajasthan including Jodhpur, Udaipur, Kota; showcasing the architecture, culture, and tradition imbibed in the rich heritage of the state. The festival has received an amazing response from the community, delivering an enigmatic experience and unifying like-minded people.
